As you may know, I am a huge music fan in terms of playing and singing...Ask me who wrote or sang certain songs and I am sure that I would fail miserably! But inside of my head runs a veritable music juke-box of songs from Oldies to Rap, Country to Theme Songs and Jazz to Musicals.
It seems possible to find a song and a music type to meet any event or occasion. Music allows me to express myself in ways that I might not be able to otherwise - from the pain experienced in losing a loved one to the utter joy of living life. I will try to put out on a random basis snipits of lyrics from songs that fit the mood of the day...hence the title - song of the day!!
Song of the Day - 26 March 2005
For two weeks while I was in Florida this song rattled around in my head. Probably because I saw the video at least 3 times a day on CMT (which was the only station my TV was turned into the whole time I was on vacation) and sang it numerous times before and after I bought the CD! An excellent song that I could have used a few years back when I was just starting out on my own trying to make my dreams come true!! :-)
Baby Girl by Sugarland
They say in this town, Stars stay up all night
Well I don't know, can't see 'em, For the glow of the neon lights
And it's a long way from here, To the place where the home fires burn
Well, it's two thousand miles and one left turn
Dear Mom and Dad, please send money
I'm so broke that it ain't funny
Well, I don't need much, just enough to get me through
Please don't worry cause I'm alright
See I'm playin' here at the bar tonight
Well, this time I'm gonna make our dreams come true
Well, I love you more than anything in the world
Love, your baby girl
Song of the Day - February 20, 2005
Just returned from Paris today after meeting friends there from the US...sat in a cafe near Notre Dame this morning and contemplated life & my job future and past, and this old Edith Pilaf song came into my head. I am going to move forward, one day at a time and forget all that has occured in the past - it is past time to move on and look forward to the rest of my life. Watch out world....ready or not, here I come!! P.s. - I decided while in Paris to stay in Europe for 6 more months!!
JE NE REGRETTE RIEN - EDITH PILAF
Non, rien de rien
Non, je ne regrette rien
Ni le bien, qu'on m'a fait
Ni le mal, tout ça m'est bien égal
Non, rien de rien
Non, je ne regrette rien
C'est payé, balayé, oublié
Je me fous du passé
And in English.....(my rough translation of the song!)
No, there's nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
Not the good, thats been done to me
Not the bad, it is all equal to me
No, there's nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
It's all paid, swept away, forgotten
I move on day by day
And the very first song of the day went to....
Lee Ann Womack - I May Hate Myself in the Morning
Song of the day: Ain’t it just like one of us, to pick up the phone and call after a couple drinks, and say, how you been, I’ve been wondering if maybe you’ve been thinkin 'bout me....I may hate msyelf in the morning, but I'm gonna love you tonight...Everyone’s known someone that they, just can’t help but want, even though we just can’t make it work out, the want to, lingers on...I know it’s wrong, but it ain’t easy movin' on, so why can’t two friends, remember the good times once again? Tomorrow, when I wake up I'll be feelin' a little guilty, a little sad, thinkin' how it used to be before everything went bad.
