LETTER FROM TOMMY Our recent reunion in San Francisco was, in my estimation, a resounding success. I'm sure that most of you have felt at least a portion of the adrenaline rush that I felt. We all had a great time just sitting and reminiscing and getting reacquainted with each other, and, I might add, loving every minute. Those from our class who for one reason or another chose not to attend missed a phenomenally rewarding experience. Harley Hiscox and his lovely wife were a wonderful addition to our already illustrious turnout. I have reached a point in my life where I am forced to hold back when it comes to my normal party and social habits. Well, dammit, I have come to the conclusion that once in a while in one's life it feels good to cut loose and have a good time with one's friends. So whatever the cost, I will not go gently into the night. Carolyn and I have been discussing how much fun we had at our reunion, and we have been rehashing some of the stories that were told at that affair and also have added a few new stories we thought were interesting--drinking suicides and cherry cokes, corn roasting parties at the beach, and playing capture the flag. Thoughts come back in torrents--flooding the gym and stealing the bus on one dark night, avoiding by a narrow margin being caught by Mr. McCune, drinking wine in the janitorial supply area of the administration building, trips to Bob's Big Boy drive-in for french fries, hamburgers, and chocolate malts. I remember when Philip Thompson told Elder Jeffries that he thought Ellen G. White was crazy after she got hit in the head by that rock. I remember telling the librarian, Mrs. Lord, that the fact that she had one blue eye and one brown eye was a sign from Satan. I was pleased to see each and every one of you at the Class of 1959 reunion. The affair was not only a success, it also served up for us all a renewed zest for life. Tom Rhymes MESSAGE UPDATE: If you missed the reunion, you missed a great time. Send me your pictures, e-mail or snail mail. I'm putting together a scrapbook page. Put your comments about the reunion on the guestbook. Carolyn did a magnificent job in planning and organizing everything. I'll have more to say here in the near future. So talk for me for now in the guestbook. Andy Check out the NEW picture page. Suggestions for the web site are appreciated. |
