It is hard to belive how time flies that today(2002) AFMS is already 22 years old. As a premier institution, one is really happy to state with pride that AFMS has so far graduated over 1800 Junior Airmen in it's 19 years of existence. Records available to the school shows that most of the EX-Junior Airmen are presently serving the nation, not only as military personnel but as productive workers in the various facets of the public and private sectors. This record of achievements would not have been possible without the commitment of the past and present administrators, policy makers, member of the board of Governors(serving and retired), and the hard working instructors of the school. Most important however, is the support of the successive leadership of the Nigerian Airforce. It is a known fact that AFMS, as an Airforce organization, has always enjoyed a tremendous support both the serving and retired Chief of Air Staff(CAS). This guardianship dated back to 19 years when the concept to establish the school was given birth to. The then Chief Of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal(AVM) AD Bello took personal responsibility of running the institution and made it a direct reporting unit with a group status in 1980. Since then, as earlier mentioned, the school has grown in developing young Nigerian Male students in both academic and military fields. This has been achieved by the combined efforts of the Academic, Military and students wings of the school.
To train and maintain a highly professional, versatile and combat ready airforce that will efectively exert timely and optimum weight of response in peace or war situation, acting singly or in unison with surface forces for the preservation of the teritorial intergrity of a united Nigeria, or in pursuit of Nigeria's local and off-shore interests.
