Student Nurse Organizations

The National Student Nurse Associations is sponsored by Delmar publications and provides a number of highly relevent links

A new site with some interesting content.

Need Information?

The following are general nursing sites that provide a variety of information on nursing and issues which are facing nursing today. For more specific domestic violence, mental health and neurological links, check out my Links of Interest section

Check out NursingNet

I would also strongly encourage use of the Worldwide Nurse Site

The Merck Manual is available online in a seachable form.

Cybernurse has a good selection of links for both student and practitioner

Nursing and Allied Health Internet Resource Directory. An excellent web directory with links to journals, colleges, employment opportunities and more.

NursingNet as with Cybernurse, a good mix of student and practitioner links and material.

Student Nurse Information Center -- A self descriptive site.

For those of you are interested in Nursing Theory, I would recommend the Nursing Theory Page.

Sites Providing General Information (Not Nursing Specific)

American Cancer Society
American Diabetes Society
American Lung Association
American Psychological Association
Center for Disease Control
National Institute of Health
World Health Organization
Your Health

Sites Addressing Ethical Issues

Loyola Univeristy's Center for Ethics A site with useful information. I would also suggest checking out some of the more nursing specific sites.

Ethics and Humanities Link Page at the University of Michigan.

MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics located at the University of Chicago.

ANA Website I would highly suggest that students, check out this ANA website. Take a look at the position statements and in particular the ANA Response to the Pew Commission

Another good site on ethics, even though it does not focus on health care, is the Institute for Business and Professional Ethics at Depaul University in Chicago.

The Center for Health Ethics is a site well worth investigating.

Looking for a Job?

Nursing Spectrum. The website for the well known nursing magazine.

Nursing Jobs. A new website providing employment opportunities.

Monster.Com. Accesses the healthcare section of Monster.Com.

RN Wanted.Com A very useful site which lists jobs across the country. Would recommend this site more than the Monster.Com site.

NurseJobz.Com A site that looks promising, but which has not been throughly investigated as yet.

Also try some of the general nursing links provided above. Many of them provide information about, or links to, nursing job opportunities.

For those preparing for licensure:

Kaplan the well known testing service has a page devoted specifically to NCLEX preparation.

Also available online is a review website created by the people at NCLEX themselves. The site requires the creation of a username and password but to view the site is free and highly recommended. To take the online review course and tutorial however, requires payment.

And if you have graduated and need some information about licensure, try the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. For those of you outside of Illinois who are accessing this site, the ANA website provides a link to State Boards of Nursing.
