Welcome to my endless struggle for a CAR
That's right, I'm searching for the perfect car, and I will be getting it next summer.  What to get though is the question on the table?  Obviously it mostly depends on what kind of summer job I get next summer.  Right now I'm a lifeguard making a little more than $6.50 and hour at the BCC (Brecksville Community Center).  I hope next year to get a much high paying job in which I can rake in the dough.  This brings up new or used.  My parents insist on new, but I still don't see what is so wrong with a two or three year old car.  They also insist on me buying the car instead of leasing, which I too find somewhat weird, but I guess they know what they are doing since hey they have three cars.  I originally wanted to purchase a government seized car for cheap, but my parents weren't exactly with that.

        BRANDS

Honda, Nissan, Ford, Toyota, or Dodge, plus many other makes it almost impossible to know what I'm going to pick.  Well have to see how things turn out for the 2000 cars.  My friend, Wade Hurley, just purchased himself a Mercury Mountaineer, which he has dubbed as "Tiiiiight".  I also like the nice semi-cheap Honda Civic, I know those have always been quality cars.  I have a while to think, and I'll keep you updated as i hear more about next year's models.

        OPTIONS

I'm not a man who needs a lot on a car.  Things I need would be an automatic, because I was one of those unfortunate people who never learned to drive stick.  I also need a AM/FM Radio with at least a cassette player.  I live by music.  I couldn't drive with out the sounds of Oasis, Fastball, or anything filling the car for that matter.  I wouldn't mind a CD player, but it isn't necessary.  That's basicly it.  I don't need AC, or even power windows.  Power locks aren't needed to drive it.  Eventhough keyless entry and Auto-Start would be the pinacle of sweetness, I can't say they are necessary or I would be insane.  According to my parents, the car I choose must also have every saftey feature known to man.  According to them, "Its not you, we're just worried about all the other crazy people out on the road."  I guess I could see there point, eventhough I have never even been close to an accident.

        COLOR

I will only stand for two colors of cars.  Choice number one is black, because black is just so slick.  Also you talking to a guyy who wanted to paint his room black when he was a kid.  I wanted that so I could put up those neat glow in the dark stars from back then.  Choice number two is Fire Engine Red.  How can you go wrong with a red car?  I know cops look for them more often in speeding tickets, but still as Nate Bilhorn would say, "Red is the coolest."

So as I return to Valpo for my second year, I will go without a car, and a bike instead.  Hey, I guess i really don't need one, but it sure would be nice to have one, right????  Any suggestions on cars can be sent to me at rodthebod@juno.com.  If you just want to keep up with the saga, check back soon and I'm sure I'll update it sometime.
