Operational Anesthesia
The Operational Anesthesia Program exists for the dual purposes of preparing
individuals to function clinically in a contigency environment and easing
the adjustment to life aboard a ship or in the field.
Objectives of the curriculum include:
- Use and care of the field anesthesia machine.
- Use of the drawover and flow-thru vaporizers.
- Know the indications, doses, desired effects, and side effects of all
drugs listed on the current anesthesia AMALs.
- Know the effects and doses of common chemical warfare agents and antidotes.
- Be familiar with the customs of shipboard life.
- Be familiar with the customs of the Marine Corps and Amphibious Warfare.
- Be familiar with the customs of the aviation environment.
