Posted on April 19, 2001 by Dave Freeman and Chad BoudreauThis scoop comes from a friend of a friend of a friend sort of deal. But it seems quite legit and therefore we'll stick it up here for all of you to enjoy. It seems as if Darren has been offered and has accepted a sports reporter job at the Prince Albert Herald. He'll be joining the team in May if the word around town is to be believed. So, I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Darren on his job and to ask him to write into the site when he gets a chance to supply some more details.
Posted on November 21, 2000 by Darren SteinkeI am employed in the communications wing at the Government of Saskatchewan's Public Employee's Benefits Agency. I work this job during the day and make decent money. By night, I write articles for a Web Site Chris Warnecke and I have covering sports in Regina. The address is below. (Note from Chad [January 2001]. Darren has since parted ways with Chris Warnecke's website and requested that the link be yanked.) We sell ads on the site. My main area of coverage is the Regina Pats. I still do freelance work for CAGE Basketball news and the CIAU website at www.CIAU.ca. Check the GPAC links for some of my past stories. I may be writing more for them over the next two weeks. I want to slow things up on the SportsRegina site because Warnecke has homework to do and also has to focus on the Vanier Cup game. I also help out the Regina Rams. I have done a couple of big volunteer projects for them. I profiled their Saskatchewan players from outside Regina. We then sent the articles to the weeklies of the town each player is from. I did a long season preiview for their Web site. I also help out at practice. A lot more has gone on, but these are the basics. Check the SportsRegina site to see my cool pictures. I shot the Rams home games and one of the Pats home games. Take care.
Posted on September 5, 2000 by Dave FreemanDarren has decided to stay in Regina for a year, work, pay off student loans and visit with his buds. He is working for a moving company, but said something about helping with some Riders (or maybe Rams or was it the Pats) PR. Anyway, he is still covering some sports, with hopes of starting a website covering it soon with a friend.
Posted on May 4, 2000 by Darren SteinkeDarren sent a little note the other day and I just had to put it up. Here it is:I actually have been up to nothing. When I do end up doing something interesting, I will let you know. I am on vacation. Read the responses to this posting |
