NEWS
Welcome to the latest edition of my magazine, the best Corinthian Magazine around by far. I’m sorry I can’t tell you any information direct from the company, as I have no connection with them. What I will do is I will take you through all the News, Views and Gossip from the people who matter in the world of Corinthian collecting – us. The convention is getting ever closer now and I suppose we’re all looking forward to Villa Park. It seems as if its could be the best yet, with all the dealers selling and trading at 100 tables at Villa Park. For those who don’t know about this, you can hire a table like a tabletop sale for £25. You will receive the 4 special edition blisters free with your table. I have also heard a few of the collectors from Japan are flying in for the event so it should be a good day. I just hope the Convention specials are sold as that and all the spares are not sold on like last year. Singapore was used as a dumping ground for the all white Owen Convention blisters last year, I myself got 20 a few months ago from Singapore, hardly a Convention special eh? Very disappointing for collectors who spent a lot of time and money just to make it to Birmingham. I look forward to seeing you all there if you can make it and if not I look forward to doing deals with you so you can get the figures you require. I just hope all the figures that Corinthian “actually” have will be available to buy at the convention.
VIEWS
I myself have been amazed at the price some of the old Prem. Lge and Scottish Lge Blisters have been commanding lately. A Silenzi blister is now worth £70 easily and there are a lot of others not far behind. I would be interested to hear what you think a full set of old 95 – 98 English & Scottish blisters are worth. I am talking about the original collection; my guess is you couldn’t get them for less than four grand. What do you think?
GOSSIP
England World Cup 98 Blisters
The blisters in question here are figures supposedly only released in a 12 pack but actually in single blisters. Now these blisters are the strangest blisters to appear for some time. Just when you thought that the Robbie Fowler Euro 96 Blister was one of the hardest England blisters to find – these turn up! These blisters which I will soon list are not to be found in the yearbook so don’t even bother to look. They are though out there, somewhere to be found by collectors. After speaking to several of the staff at Corinthian the best info I could get was “they were not released” or “they may have been released” or “I have seen one or two”. Take your pick of what you want to believe. One thing is for sure is some (or maybe all 12) were released and there were very very few released. Information on such releases is very hard to obtain, as few people now involved at Corinthian were not at the company when all the old products were released. Also my guess (for what it’s worth) is these were only released in Hong Kong for their collectors at the time. It could be that there are only 10 – 50 of each, which is incredible. I also know of an Euro 96 12 Pack all in Grey Away Kit, only 10 made especially for a competition in Hong Kong. With these 98 World Cup blisters we must be looking at the rarest blisters of all time! If a Fowler Euro 96 blister can now reach prices of £100+, what price a Fowler England 98 Blister? Or is there a Scholes E90 out there somewhere in blister? Maybe not I suppose. If you hear or have any England 98 figures that were in the 12 pack in single blister please contact me.
