The following teams qualified to represent Pakistan in the 11th World Team Bridge Olympiad to be held in Maastricht, The Netherlands, from 26 August to 9 September 2000:


Al Fateh team from Lahore comprising of Javed Khalid, Mirza Shauq Hussain, Mrs.Fehmina Shauq, Taher Abbas, Ali Abbas and Hamid Zaman


Horizon team comprising of Qudsia Dossa, Zeenat Azwer, Rubina Agha and Roshan Ara Bokhari

Our Junior team had qualified to represent Zone-4, along with Egypt in the 7th Juniors Championship held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA in August'99. Unfortunately they could not make it owing to US Visa refusal to two of their team mates.
Sarfraz Ahmed Khan 24, a member of that team, was invited to participate in the 5th Generali Masters Individual, 2000 (Juniors), held in Athens, Greece from 13th to 15th April '00. This is the first time a Juniors event had been included in this prestigious tournament, where 52 men, 28 women and 20 juniors competed.

In 1999...

Mr. Mazhar Jafri, President Emiratus of Pakistan Bridge Federation, and President of BFAAME and Vice President of World Bridge Federation, was conferred with the medal, Tamgha-e Imtiaz, a civil award, by the President of Pakistan, in our Independence Day celeberations, in recognition of his meritorius services towards the promotion of duplicate bridge in Pakistan and in getting Bridge included as a sport by the International Olympic Committee.
