Rajendra Golcha Memorial bridge tournament is taking place at Jai Club, Jaipur from Oct 9-Oct 11,1999.
In this section I would cover one good deal which appeared in the Weekly Bridge Tournaments at Lucknow or in a recent tournament with explanations.
This week's deal is from 2nd International Olympic Committee Grand Prix which took place at Olympic Museum, Laussane, Switzerland from Sept 20 -24, 1999.

World Bridge Federation (WBF) has got recognition from Inernational Olympic Committee (IOC). Now Bridge is amongst those sports which are recoginzed by Olympic movement but which are not yet played at the Olympics. It is likely that Bridge would be a demonstration Sport at the 2002 Winter Olympic games.Since 1998 IOC is hosting a Bridge Grand Prix at its headquarters in Laussane, Switzerland. This year the event took place from Sept 20 - 24.
This year teams from Brazil, France, Italy, Netherlands, USA & China took part in the Open event whereas a team from North America took on a team from Europe in the Women's event.
This week's deal features Sabine Auken of Germany, a leading women player, playing for Europe.
Sabine opened Precision 1 Club and after natural auction was playing in 3 NT.
She received the lead of Diamond 5. She played low from dummy winning queen from North with Ace and took Spade finesse. North after winning Spade queen continued with Diamond 10 which was allowed to hold, North now shifted to Club King. Sabine won the second Club with ace and finessed Spade again , cashed Spade Ace and exited with a Spade. South won the trick with Spade King and continued with a Diamond. Sabine won in dummy with King and cashed the last Spade.
By now North was under pressure. She was known to hold five clubs and she discarded two Hearts and two Clubs. Sabine had pitched a Club & two Hearts.
Now Sabine didn't need to finesse Hearts as North showed up the distribution.
Sabine scored her contract by squeezing North in a play known as show up squeeze.
You would have noted that the contract doesn't make on a lead of Club from South. But sitting North should you risk a overcall of 2 Clubs which is two down doubled ?
I think in the field at Lucknow some may just make the overcall.
