In Their season they won the championship and eight seasons later won the and Div title with a club record 115 goals in 1931/2. Wolves were heading for the finest part of thier history.
First under Major Frank Buckley, pre-war when they were 5th, 2nd, 2nd in the last three peace-time League seasons and also Cup runners-up in 1939. After the war when under manager Stan Cullis they won the League Championship 1953/4, 1957/8, 1958/9 and finished runners-up in 1949/50, 1954/5, 1959/60 and won the Cup in 1949 and 1960. But golden eras come to an end and the finish of the 1964/5 season saw Wolves relegated. Two seasons later they finished runners-up to Coventry in 1966/7.
Wolves` full list of Cup Finals are winners 1893(Everton 1-0), 1949(Leicester 3-1), 1060(Blackburn 3-0) and they were runners-up in 1889, 1896, 1921 and 1939. In 1960/1 they reached the semi-final of the European Cup Winners Cup before losing to Glasgow Rangers.
