I-76 Speedway in a 1/4 mile dirt track located in the Northeast corner of Colorado. It began operating in 1968 and has also been know as Morgan County Raceway.
The grandstand entry price was a reasonable $7. A pit pass cost $15.
This was a racy track which had no fences except in front of the main grandstand.
The grandstand ran the length of the front straightaway. It was only 8 rows high so everyone was close to the action.
There were several classes. Pictured are the econo stocks (all cars whose "numbers" start with an E) and the mini-stocks.
The I.M.C.A. modifieds were the featured class. They had a field of 18-20 and put on some exciting races. I-76 Speedway runs about 6 classes. I'm pleased to report they ran the I.M.C.A. modified feature before the other features. I think most tracks who run several classes of cars should run their main class feature first.
There was a large field of legends cars on hand.
The mini sprint class was not as competitive as other mini sprint groups I've seen.
