Biography
Steve Marshall
Age: 30 Height: 5' 11" Weight: 175 lbs. I have been interested in bikes and cycling for longer than I can remember. I started riding seriously at the age of 15. Over the years, I have participated in some USCF racing, but never got hooked on it like many riders do. I think this had something to do with the short nature of the races. The race would be over and I would just be getting warmed-up and starting to ride well. All of that changed in 1998. I moved back to my home town of Columbus, Indiana, and began training for and competing in what are known as ultra-marathon cycling events. Generally, an ultra-marathon event would be any ride of at least 12 hours or at least 200 miles. I found that I not only have a natural aptitude for this type of riding, but that I most enjoy training for and participating in the long events. There is a real sense of accomplishment in just finishing a 200 mile-long ride. As you'll see from the upcoming events section, I have a busy schedule planned for the year 2000. For the first time, I will be participating in a 24-hour event in addition to a couple of record attempts as well. Links to these events will be posted as soon as they are available.
