* Ratings based on ability of bench to
fill in a position. More than one backup at a position would influence
the rating as would one player's ability to play multiple positions.
For eg. Darvin Ham and Fowlkes aren't worth a 7 but Rasheed and Corliss
slide over too thus influencing the rating.
Needs:
Re-sign current players? Lets assume they successfully keep Rasheed
but lose Okur.
Backup Shooting Guard
Delfino coming over from Europe may solve this problem but Joe D would
probably like a shooter who can handle the ball a bit to fill out the
roster. They may bring back Sura or go after a Antonio Daniels/ Anthony
Peeler type player.
Potential candidates: Bob Sura
Backup Power Forward / Center
Would be a nice place for McDyess to revive his career. No pressure,
an opportunity to get a fair share of shots without having to carry
the offense and with great help defenders around him. If he does flourish,
Corliss becomes expendable.
Prediction: The defending champions will
be the target of every team this year so don't expect their win total
to increase too much. 58-60 wins seems about right. Do expect to see
a little more Darko as third forward/center behind Williamson/Campbell.
