* Player Rating on a 1 to 10 Scale. 10 denotes best at position in the NBA with no weaknesses, 5 would be average player who holds his own etc.
* Ratings based on ability of bench to
fill in a position. More than one backup at a position would influence
the rating as would one player's ability to play multiple positions.
No players signed yet for Denver. This team's greatest needs last year were a better coach and good health. Scott gets a chance to prove he really knows what he's doing -- anything less than the playoffs in the competitive West and his reputation takes a hit. Will Mashburn play, be traded or retire? Is Baron Davis going to be swapped for Kidd or Carter? We won't know the answers to those questions for a while so assuming they stay the way they are, this team is pretty much set. They had a fairly good year last year and this year the rookie David West should contribute a little more and the team made a couple of good pickups in Rodney Rogers and the Birdman. Rogers played well when Martin was hurt last year and he should do okay with this team as long as he keeps his weight down. The Hornets are still looking for an answer at shooting guard. Alexander fell out of favor before getting injured and the rookie is unlikely to contribute much his first year. Lucious Harris would be a good pickup for this team. If Mashburn comes back healthy and Scott can get them all on the same page, this team could surprise everyone this year. If Mash is out, Davis will feel the offensive load and the Hornets will miss the playoffs.
