For the 3rd year in a
row we were lucky enough to attend the Braves vs Astros series.
On this page you will find links to
the numerous pictures we
took with the players, and things we had autographed. I hope
you all enjoy the adventure and pictures.
We arrived in Houston at 11:30
and went straight to the Galleria for some shopping and ice skating for
the kids. As we were going to the
food court I spotted Javy Lopez
eating at Chili's. Considering he is my favorite player I found
this very exciting. We checked into our hotel
and then the fun began. The kids and I were excited about getting
autographs so we went down to the lobby. Javy comes
in and signs for the few people who are there, unfortunately I didn't
have my camera with me at the time. I did get his card autographed
and talked to him for a bit. I told him I had several
other things for him to sign and would like to get a picture
with him. He told me no problem to find him later. Much
to my dismay I went back up to the room and while I was there
he came back down. My husband took several pictures of him, but
I didn't get my photo with him.
My 10 year old son, rode
in the elevator with Galarraga, but had nothing for him to
sign, so he signed his Braves shirt. Boy that sure got Ryan's mind
thinking. For the remainder of the trip he wore his shirt only
down to the lobby for autographs. He ended up with 15 autographs
on his shirt.
I say this every year that
we go, but I just can't believe how nice the players are. 90 percent
of the team was very willing and friendly to the fans waiting for autographs.
On this afternoon we were able to get a picture of John Burkett with
my 2 boys.
Now it was off to the game and our
first look at Enron Field. I think the new park is just Beautiful.
The game was a very close game, going into 10 innings. Javy did hit
a home run so that made the game great to me. As luck goes the Astros win
it in the 10th. Something I don't understand is over 1000 fans left
in the 9th with the game tied. I guess I'm a true baseball fan, because
I want to see the last out made of every game I can attend.
Saturday's game was just as exciting.
Andruw hit a home run, Chipper hit a home run, and so did Brian Jordan.
After a loud booing welcome, Rocker is put into the game. He loads
the bases with no outs, and Kerry Lightenberg comes in and gets 3 outs
and the Braves win it. Sunday Andruw hits another home run to give
the Braves a 2 to 0 lead. Javy adds a home run in the 6th, but it
wasn't enough. The Astros come back to win it in the 8th.
I would like to Thank all of the Braves for their time, and making my two boys feel on top of the world. We got to see 3 very close and good games, so I'd have to say the trip was a success.
During our stay at the hotel I was
able to get pictures of allot of the players. The only player
I personally took a picture with was Tom Glavine.
The other players I took with the
kids. I would like to Thank Walt Weiss, Bruce Chen, Terry Mulholland,
Rudy Seanez, and John Burkett for taking the time out for the kids.
I got the thrill of riding in the elevator with Reggie Sanders and I thought
he was a very nice guy. My husband rode with quite a few players
and coaches. He was able to talk with Chen, Seanez, Lockhart, and
Leo Mazzone. He truly enjoyed his ride with Mazzone and Chen.
Tyler got to ride with Javy, Jordan,
Galarraga, Furcal, and Lunar. Bobby Bonilla told everyone in the
lobby he does not sign in the hotel, if you want his autograph to go wait
in the heat. For myself, I understand, but for the kids I thought
it was a really rude thing to say. Wally Joyner never stopped for
autographs.
Now for all of you Braves Fans,
I'm posting links to the pictures from our trip. I can not wait for
the September Series. Until then I will be watching every game I
possibly can on TV.
I hope everyone enjoys a little glimpse of our journey. Go Braves!!
