Titans
/ 4/2/09 - Mt Michael - We had
perfect weather today to play our season opener as we
traveled to Mt Michael in Elkhorn NE. First game is always
a learning experience to say the least and we certainly can say
we learned a lot tonight as we looked like a team trying to find
our identity. The first half we break down in
the middle, don't mark up, and don't talk, add it all up and we
are down 2-0 by the half. We come out playing much smarter
ball the second half and start to control the middle and stop
their attack. We hold them out the second half and then
with 1:22 left in the game Jacob Clark seconds the ball across
on the 18 and Nate Dreager is there to put it away.
Needless to say prior to this we had at least 4 missed
opportunities inside the 18 that should have been goals as well.
We played well enough the second half that with the missed
opportunities we should have won this game. It is one
thing to be in the right place at the right time, however, we
must take advantage when opportunities are presented. We will
continue to work on the finish and what is known as the chip
shot. We prepare now for Atlantic on Tuesday as we are on
the road again. Join us in Atlantic and cheer on your
Titans. JV
tonight suffered their worst lost in Titan soccer history
getting beat 8-1. We had to ask a lot of the boys tonight
as we have no subs and they have to play the full 60 minutes.
Due to injuries and ineligibility we are limited in what we can
do and who we can play where they are comfortable playing.
The second half we showed signs of fatigue for sure as we gave
up 6 goals and were totally out hustled to the ball. In
JV, like Varsity, we completely lost the middle. When you
get tired you stop talking, stop marking, and lose first touch.
We have things to work on that is for sure. We did have
one bright light in the second half with 1:30 into the second
half Troy Mahood breaks lose and finds himself one on one with
the keeper and puts it away, totally under control, nice shot
Troy. |
