SHE-LA - 54-40 I hope this is right. Back when I first started playing guitar, I talked to Phil Comparelli after a show in Calgary during their Dear Dear tour, and I asked him how to play that lead part that rings throughout the song (at the time it made no sense to me). It wasn't until recently (some 5-6 years later) that I actually tried to remember what he said and try it. This is what I came up with. I hope I remember the tuning correctly, it sounds OK to me, but my ear sucks!! In order to play it, you have to tune both your B and G strings to A, so your guitar is tuned as so (high to low) E A A D A E This can be your lead guitar. RIFF E ----------------------------------------------------------- h = hammer A ---------------0--------0 h 3 p 0----------------------- p = pull off A---0 h 3 p 0--------------------------0-----ETC--------- This just repeats. Listen to the song for timing. Rhythm guitar is standard tuning. The rest of the song. INTRO A D C D--2---------7---------3-------- A -0---------5---------5------- E -------------------------------- Listen to the song and listen to the changes. This is the pattern through most of the song. VERSE Gonna start dressing Finer things Maybe just nothing Maybe just a dream (Enter RIFF) You are gonna find him one day knocking at your door He's not the hero anymore He says baby don't you want me in your life You tell him what was wrong not right CHORUS Don't She-la Don't she look happy Don't She-la Don't she look happy Gonna start living Fantasy Maybe just nothing Maybe just a dream Fire in the blue sky when he hits you in the mouth This is the war and not the warning He says baby I love won't you stay You say good bye to him too late CHORUS A G F D D---7----------------5------------------------3-----------------------7-------- A---7----------------5------------------------3-----------------------5-------- E---5-----------------3-----------------------1--------------------------------- Don't she look happy now that she's gone away from here He's gone away he died they say an awful way It was an attack of the heart RIFF Solo Since the B and G string are tuned to A, the solo can be played on either string. Play around and have fun with it!!!!!!!! E -----------------------------------------------5--3--5------------------------ A -0--0--3p0--0---5--0--0--\7--5--3h5--3--------------0--0--\7--5--3h5---- A --------------------------------------------0--------------------------------- E--------5--3--5-------\12--10--8h10--8--5--------------------------------- A--3-------------0--0------------------------12--10--12-----------\7---5---3- A-----0-----------------------------------------------------0--0--------------- A D C You have started something big by cutting through the man There was a sign you heard a calling He says baby I don't want to die today You say so long man it's too late CHORUS ###Give the song a try and e-mail me back to give some feedback. I'm not much of a transcriber, and this is one of my first attempts so your input will be appreciated!!!!
