Band: Sloan Tabbed By: Adam Bishop I have been inspired to redo this song by a recent (Oct. 99) episode of MuchEast :) The video for this song was played, and I knew that my tab wasn't really correct anyway, so I've redone it. It's not perfect but it's better now. For the scratchy sounding acoustic intro, I think that the guitar has a capo on the second fret. The chord formations (relative to the capo) are (I don't know if the names are right): G - 3x0003 Bb6 - 6x006x F9(b5) - 13x203 Cmaj9 - 8x0007 C - x3201x Gsus4 - 3x0013 G Bb6 I once knew a pair that used to fit very tight F9(b5) Cmaj9 F9(b5) G And now a man standing tall in the wake of this night Gsus4 G C His eyes are watering in anger at the thought of her spite Gsus4 (Fill 1) G (Fill 2) The scene of adultery sets the stage for his plight Fill 1: | Fill 2: E|------|--------- B|------|--------- G|------|--------- D|--7---|----7---- A|---7--|--------- E|------|--------- The fills are on an electric guitar. They seem to a little out of place, as if someone was just getting ready to start playing. Anyway, the verses are played with at least 3 electric guitars: two playing the chords and another playing the riffs. Here are the chords: A - 577655 C - 8-10-10-9-8-8 G - 355433 D - x57775 Asus4 - 577755 Riff 1 is played in verses 1, 3, and 5. Riff 2 is played at the end of each verse. Riff 3 is played in verses 2 and 4. A C On an innocent trip how can one really so much G D A D A belief in a soul, in a beauty, or in a touch Asus4 A D It's like a three legged dog in search of a crutch A (riff 2) Dissecting it past all the motors and such She once loved this person, a trial out of sight Disclosing of the present situation, it felt right Two winters and summers passed over like a sound And now the two of them are lost in the screaming battleground With support all around him like a fence or a drink He realises his sadness that now he must begin to think To filter his energy upon losses and pain She'll break up with the rest of them, the peaceful, or the game His sister's a friend she's like a relative to both Obliged to her brother unders silhouetted oath But she's there for the two with her bias undone And she'll help see it through under moonlight or sun But today they've still yet to look each other in the eye And in a second he manages to dip to the other side Up to the people of the sky And now he'll never die One guitar plays Riff 3, another plays Riff 4, another plays A - D Riff 1: E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------- B|-5--5-5-5-5--8--8-8-8-8-8-8-8--10--10-10-10-10--14--14-14-14-14-14-14-14-- G|-------------------------------------------------------------------------- D|-------------------------------------------------------------------------- A|-------------------------------------------------------------------------- E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Riff 2: E|------------------------------- B|------------------------------- G|------------------------------- D|------------------------------- A|--4-----5----4--4-----5--4----- E|-----5-------------5--------5-- Riff 3 (something like this): E|------------------------------------------------------------------- B|------------------------------------------------------------------- G|-9--9--9-9-9-9--9--9--9-9-9-9-9--9--9--9-9-9--9--9--9-9-9-9-9-9-9/- D|------------------------------------------------------------------- A|------------------------------------------------------------------- E|------------------------------------------------------------------- Outro: one guitar plays A - D (as in the last two lines of every verse). Another guitar plays these riffs, and I think another guitar is playing something as well but I don't know what.
