This webpage was very interesting to find. I know Israel quite well and I wondered weather soaring is possible in this nice and interesting country. It is !!!
There must be very nice gliding routes, down to the red sea and other places. Hope there are not too many restrictions for flying.

Aviation in Germany is threatened by a 7000 DM (about 3700 USD per airplane
and year) vignette, that should force owners and clubs to participate in
pretended losses of DWD (German Weather Service) and DFS (German Air Traffic
Control). The truth i , that the DFS has rising profits each year and the
DWD already collects fees for its services. A vignette according to the
governmental plans would kill private flying in Germany. And the worst
thing is: It´s not a joke, it´s reality ! About 200000 members
of aeroclubs in Germany have spend lots of time in the past 50 years to
build up both clubs a d their infrastructure. Many jobs in maintenance,
supply and manufacturing would be lost too. You can help us by filling
out the form on our web pages. All data will be collected and sent to the
BMV (Ministry of Traffic). We hope that international pressure will force

I glad I found you. I was
in Israel a couple of months ago searching for phone number and directions
to the club. I belong to Valley Soaring Club in Middletoen, New York

Shalom! I enjoyed your site very
much. I have a friend, Leon Dagon, who used to fly gliders in Israel when
he wasn't flying in the IAF, and he told me that the thermals in Israel
were ususally pretty strong, although flying great distances was somewhat
of a problem. Canada is fortunate to not have as many hostile neighbours
and less restricted airspace, but being at 44 degrees of latitude doesn't
make for strong thermals year-round a great possibility either. What does
a Canadian pilot need to fly gliders n Israel in terms of requirements,
and do you have many pilots who have flown tasks over 300km? I'd
love to hear back from you, Mik

Friends: Nice to hear again from
the gliderport at Megido. I used to soar there in the late 60 when I was
a high school kids in Tivon. I soloed in a asummer camp in Atarot (Jerusalem)
probably in 68 or 69. I used to own a Pegasus (flew out from Ridge
Soaring PA) ut sold it when I moved to New Zealand (fantastic soaring),

I belong to KC Eagles Soaring Club in eastern Kansas. We have 12
members, a 2-33 and a Cessna 150/150 tow plane. It is pretty windy
and chilly from November through February with not much activity.

I'm pleased to know there is a
soaring club in Israel. Your home page is quite sophisticated. Questions:
Can someone from another country (USA) fly at your club? Is it possible
to do cross country flights or are you restricted by military flight activity?
Can someone who does not speak Hebrew still fly with the club. I own an
ASW-20 and have started to fly contests here in the US & Canada. I
was the team Psychologist for the US at the St. Aubin world championships
in France this past summer. Although now I am a professor I was a military
rotory wing pilot many years a o. After giving up my career in bicycle
racing (I think I was the only jewish US Champion) I returned to flying
and am hooked on soaring. If anyone from your club comes to the US and
needs help with our soaring opportunities let me know and I'd be glad to
help them out and provide information. I live in Connecticut about 2 hours
from NY City, but I keep my glider in NY State. Maybe, I'll get to Israel
