Since it's debut in 1963, the Porsche 911, has redifined the definition of "sports car". Over it's 33 year life span, it has risen to the occasion to out-perform any rival automobile. The 911 is considered to be "the classic Porsche model", and one of the better 911s was the 1978-1983 911SC model. In 1978 the 911 became the 3.0 liter 911SC for the entire world market. The 911SC engine, besides being larger at 3.0 liters and more powerful at 180 horsepower than the 2.7 liter engine, was essentially an all-new engine, and at that time was the best 911 engine produced. By developing more graceful emission control devices for these 911SC engines, Porsche was able to make great progress toward meeting the world's ecological needs without making either the driver or the engine suffer for it. The body for the 911SC model was a fairly logical progression from the Carrera and continued to use larger rear fender than in the front. The 911SC have proven to be extremely reliable car.
