The Fayetteville-Manlius boys track team broke a nine-year, 74-win dual meet streak Monday by defeating Central Square 81-51 at F-M. Utilizing a core of distance runners and some new faces in the field events, the Hornets nearly reversed the 88-53 score of last year's meeting with Central Square. "They beat up on us last year in the field events, and this year we reversed that," F-M coach Jerry Smith said. "The seniors like (Chris) Angier, (Adam) Wasileski and (Jeremy) Block really did the job in distance events where we needed it. Our team's so varied and deep in distance." Newcomer Pat Waters won the discus and placed second in the triple jump and high jump. "We didn't have that last year," Smith said. With the win, the F-M boys become the regular season Onondaga High School League Class A American champions. |
