The first column after placing and teamname is number of seasons played in Serie A; after that like a regular table. The table was composed from material found at the RSSSF. You are free to use this table but please state the source, i.e. Clas Glenning. An * indicates points deducted (in some cases on more than one occasion), I refer the reader to the notes after the table for clarification regarding that. Finally, I would like to thank Armando D'Ambra of Sydney, Australia for some clarifications.

1. Torino were called Talmone Torino during the 1958/59-season. 2. Napoli had one point deducted during the 1976/77-season. 3. Sampdoria had three points during the 1973/74-season 4. Vicenza have also played under the name of Lanerossi Vicenza. 5. Udinese had nine points deducted during the 1986/87-season. 6. Livorno were called Pro Livorno during the 1945/46-season. 7. Avellino had five points deducted during the 1980/81-season. 8. Foggia had six points deducted during the 1973/74-season for malpractice. 8. Perugia had five points deducted during the 1980/81-season. 9. Empoli had five points deducted during the 1987/88-season and a further two deducted during the 1998/99 season. 10. Ancona was called Anconitana during the 1945/46-season. Anconitana changed name to Ancona in 1981. 11. Milan, Fiorentina & Lazio each had 30 points deducted during the 2005/06- season because of match-fixing. 12. 2006/07: Milan (-8), Lazio (-3), Fiorentina (-15), Siena (-1) and Reggina (-11) all had points deducted because involvement in a matchfixing scandal during the 2005/06-season.
# 1943/44 & 1944/45-seasons were cancelled due to World War 2. ## In the 1945/46-season the serie A was divided into two regular season groups, centro-sud and alta Italia. These played among themselves first and then the best teams from each group played a final round to decide the championship. In that season 25 teams played in serie A, 11 in centro sud and 14 in alta Italia. ### In the 1946/47-season Triestina escaped relegation although they finished last in the table. The reason for this was the occupation of Trieste of allied forces so that Triestina could not use their ground in the playoffs. It is very probable that three teams should have been relegated from serie A that season as 21 teams made up the league the following season. (very possibly it should have been 20 teams as serie A was reduced to that number for the 1948/49-season). #### Udinese (finishing 2nd) and Catania (finishing 14th) were relegated after the 1954/55-season instead of the last placed teams, Spal & Pro Patria. Why this occured is unknown to me. It might have something to do with a bribery scandal involving the forcibly relegated teams. ##### Sampdoria escaped relegation after the 1973/74-season although they finished second last. Instead Verona was relegated because they were found guilty of match-fixing. ###### As a consequence of a bribery scandal in the 1979/80-season Milan and Lazio were forcibly relegated to serie B. ###### As a consequence of a match-fixing scandal during the 2005/06-season Juventus were relegated to serie B. (See also above regarding point-deductions for other teams). ######## When points have been deducted the reasons are in most cases unknown to the author. In some cases deduction can be attributed to the bribery scandals mentioned here and there.
