Yanks Trade Naulty to Dodgers for Minor Leaguer

(Ticker) The New York Yankees traded right-handed reliever Dan Naulty to the Los Angeles Dodgers today for minor league first baseman Nicholas Leach.

It was the second trade in as many days in which the defending World Series champions acquired minor leaguers. On Monday, they dealt World Series hero Chad Curtis to the Texas Rangers for pitchers Sam Marsonek and Brandon Knight.

Naulty, 29, saw only spot duty with the Yankees last season, posting a 1-0 record and 4.38 ERA in 33 appearances over two stints with the team. He was not included on New York's postseason roster and was designated for assignment on Wednesday.

Leach, 22, spent the entire 1999 season at Class A Vero Beach of the Florida State League, where he batted .283 with 20 homers and 74 RBI in 128 games. He was selected by the Dodgers in the fifth round of the 1996 draft.
