APA FIELD SAFETY
The members of the APA believe all paintball fields should practice
these minimum standards of safety.
1) A chronograph MUST be available and used to verify that EVERY
paintgun on the field is shooting at a safe velocity. The maxium velocity is 300 Feet-Per-Second (FPS), some fields use lower velocities.
2) Barrel plugs or other gun blocking devices should be used in all
safe areas. Barrel condoms are recommended, especially with electronic triggered markers.
3) An orientation on the rules of the sport and the field MUST be
given to all players at the start of every day.
4) At least one experienced referee should be on the playing field at
all times during games.
5) The field MUST enforce the proper use of paintball approved
goggles in all shooting areas.
6) Field boundaries and any natural hazards should be clearly
marked.
7) At least one staff member must have First-Aid training and a well
stocked first-aid kit kept at the field.
8) Field staff should endeavor to prevent the consumption of alcohol
on the premises and prohibit any violent or unruly behaviour that
could pose a safety hazard.
Keep in mind that these guidelines are presented as a minimum
standard and field operators should go beyond these measures to
ensure safe play at their field. Players should be aware that fields
that do not enforce these minimum standards are potentially
dangerous and should be avoided.
