The Seattle Mariners All-Star center fielder put together a season that will be analyzed by baseball fans for years to come. In 161 games that Griffey has played in he hammered 56 home runs, 146 RBIs, 180 hits, 120 runs, and a .284 batting average. He drove in his second highest season amount of RBIs (146). His highest was in 1997 with 147 RBIs. To say that Griffey was over match by Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa with the single season home run record that is not true. Ken Griffey, Jr. had the most home runs in the American League and had a ton of RBIs. But if he were in the National league he probably would not be noticed that much, even if he would have had a heck of a year. Will Ken Griffey, Jr. have a great season like this year or will he slump; only time can tell.
