THE BIRTH OF bLaZe

Blaze is a local team from Singapore formed in late 1990. All players came from the youth squad of Singapore Netball Association. The team was known as Feeder Squad. After the team was disbanded, the 12 enthusiatic players decided to continue with their beloved sport-netball. Thus the birth of IV Team.

The team was supported by the President of Singapore Netball Association, Mrs Ivy Singh Lim. The name IV Team was name after her in appreciation of her kind support.It is a roman number four as well as being read as 'I' and a 'V'. Meaning "For ivy". Her support in term of sponsorship has helped the team come a long way. However, the IV team was renamed as Blaze in 1995 because most of the players had since started working and thus Blaze became a self-supported Team.

There were lots of obstacles along the way. The most common one would be the commitment of the players. Players came and left and the pioneer batch of players has gone down to only three! However, with new blood injected into the team, Blaze has overcome all the problems and is now playing in Singapore Division one games. Players in Blaze not only share a common love for Netball but are also bonded by the love of friendship. It is like a big family and everyone enjoys playing the game even more because Blaze is a fun loving team. It has a very special place in everyone's heart and we welcome all the netball enthusiast to drop us a mail at anytime or drop by to watch us train on every Friday from 8-10pm at kallang Netball Centre.
