My all time favorite Fighters in Hockey

My Top 20 Fighters Of All Time.

1. BOB PROBERT, DET,CHI....undisputed champ in late 80's early 90's..Classic bouts include Domi/Crowder/McSorley

2. JOEY KOCUR, DET,NYR..owns a jackhammer for a right hand...devastating one punch fighter

3. CLARK GILLIES, NYI....patrolled the ice during the Islander Cup years...did not lose to many battles

4. DAVE BROWN, PHI....6'-4" 215 and a lefty caught many an opponent unprepared.

5. MARTY MCSORLEY, EDM,PITT,LA,NYR,SJ...Marty has been around for a while and can still go with the young guns

6. DAVE RICHTER, PHIL,MINN...in my opinion he was the left handed version of Joey Kocur...He threw them Straight,Hard and Fast...his fights were over quickly

7. TODD EWEN,STL

8. TIGER WILLIAMS, TOR,DET,LA...The NHL's all time penalty minute leader

9. BOB NYSTROM, NYI....a talented player that had a short fuse and tended to go absolutely psycho when fighting

10. DAVE SEMENKO, EDM...The dirtiest fighter ever....he included head butts, knees and elbows to his repertoire.

11. LARRY PLAYFAIR, STL

12. DAVE SHULTZ, PHI,PIT...If you looked up goon in the dictionary...you would see a picture of the "hammer"...Was part of the heritage of the "Broad St. Bullies"

13. TIM HUNTER, CALG...best nose in hockey....once claimed it had never been broken ?

14. PAUL BAXTER, CALG...along with Hunter and Jim Peplinski, Baxter had some Western Canadian brawls with Edmonton in the late 80's

15. CHRIS NILAN, MTL ....Montreal's all time penalty minute leader, rarely turned down the invitation to dance..

16. JAY WELLS, LA...for a few years, he was the only fighter on the Kings so he went into places like Boston Garden and the Spectrum as the lone gunfighter...he and Dave Brown tangled 3 times in 1 game...

18. RICK TOCCHET, PHIL,BOS,FLA...another talented player that had a definate mean streak

19. WENDEL CLARK, TOR,NYI

20. TIE DOMI, TOR,NYR...what can I say about him....all time hardest noggin in the league...a little guy that I have seen put down the likes of Probert,Odelein,Manson,Oliwa to name a few.

HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA

Hockey is a high speed, action packed game that is played with passion and reckless abandon....not all the players have goal scoring or playmaking "skillz", they have "fought" their way into the NHL. Most of these players patrol the ice as protectors of those that "light the lamp","put the biscuit in the basket","hit the twine" and "put it where momma stores the peanut butter...top shelf". Fighting seems to be quickly becoming a lost art...with those in power trying to abolish what any "REAL" hockey fan loves to see.....Just ask the "Great One" Wayne Gretzky if he would have had so much success and freedom if Dave "Cement Head" Semenko had not been playing on his wing.....All great players have had a "protector".
