Important dates in Big Nine Boys Swimming history:
§ Dec. 9, 1986: Owosso beats Grand Blanc 89-83 to give Grand Blanc its first Big Nine dual meet loss.
§ Dec. 17, 1998: Powers Catholic beat Grand Blanc 94-92 to give Grand Blanc its second Big Nine dual meet loss ever.
§ Feb. 24, 1999: Controversial vote of Big Nine Conference athletic directors gives Powers Catholic a share of its first Big Nine swimming championship because it beat Grand Blanc in the teams dual meet earlier in the season. The vote made the regular season dual meets and the season-ending league meet each count 50 percent towards determining the overall league champiom. From 1974 to 1998 the dual meets never counted in determining the league champion.

Feb. 27, 1999: Grand Blanc comes from behind to edged
Powers, 402.50-399, to capture its 25th consecutive Big Nine swim meet. The
Bobcats trailed the entire meet until they won the last event – 400-yard
freestyle relay- to win the meet and the title.
§ Feb. 26, 2000: Powers Catholic becomes the first Big Nine school, other than Grand Blanc, to win the Big Nine season-ending meet.
