In the beginning of 1995, a group of friends that played ice
hockey in a mall here in Rio de Janeiro decided to play in the
streets. The meatings occured every sunday in the avenue of
Ipanema beach.
Many people stranged but they started to learn to apreciated this
fresh sport from Europe and North America. There was no
apropriated court to play so they continued to play in the
street, but with the big publicity given to hockey, hundreds of
new players started to be formed.
In the midle of May, 1996, the Jockey Club Brasileiro built the
first court with the oficial dimensions established by IIHF.
The Mad Parrot's sportive curriculum is very good: four-times
champion of Rio de Janeiro Championship (1996-1999), three times
the team got the second place in Brazilian Championships (1996,
1998, 1999) and our biggest conquest was in 1998 when the Mad
Parrot's won the South America Championship; the biggest title of
a brazilian team.
