Morten Frost Hansen
Chief coach of Malaysian Badminton Team. Employed by BAM in 1997, Frost was the coach of Denmark badminton team. Frost was one of the "Four Heavenly King" in Men Singles in the 80's (along with Icuk, Yang Yang and Zhao Jian Hwa) and is the only European player who manage to stop the monopolies of Asian player on the court during the 80's. |
Misbun Sidek
The eldest brother in the legendary Sidek family, Misbun was Malaysia top men single in the 80's. He is now the chief coach of professional stable Nusa Mahsuri. |
Cheah Soon Kit
Soon Kit is the double ace of Malaysia team. He partnered Ong Beng Teong in the late 80's and Soo Beng Kiang in early 90's. Both partnerships results in world class men double pairs. He is also one of the hero who help Malaysia beaten Indonesia in 3 Thomas Cups. His current partnership with Yap Kim Hock makes them one of the top double pair in the world now. |
Rashid Sidek
The youngest in the Sidek family, Rashid is a professional player with Nusa Mahsuri and was Malaysia No. 1 mens single. One of Rashid's most memorable game is at the semi-finals of Thomas Cup 1992, where he beaten Zhao Jian Hwa of China, making way for Malaysia's win into the final and eventually won the cup. |
Foo Kok Keong
Already retired, Kok Keong is one of my favourite player. He is Malaysia's No 2 men singles in the late 80's and early 90's. He managed to defeat (once in a while) almost every top players during the time. My most memorable matches is between Kok Keong and Joko Suprianto of Indonesia during 1994 Thomas Cup semi-finals. |
Yap Kim Hock
Partnering Tan Kim Her before Soon-Kit and Beng Kiang "divorced", Kim Hock is now being partnered with Soon-Kit since late 1995, and is one of the top double pair in the world. Kim Hock-Soon Kit are runner up at the 1996 Olympics and world championship. Kim Hock retires after Sukom 1998. |
Ong Ewe Hock
Ewe Hock is currently Malaysia No. 1 men single. He was a professional player with the Nusa Mahsuri stable, before he returned to BAM camp last year. |
Wong Choon Hann
Currently Malaysia No 5 men single, Choon Hann is the fastest raising star among the young players. He is the champion of Holland Open in 1997. |
Yong Hock Kin
Just like Ewe Hock, Hock Kin was a professional with Nusa Mahsuri before becoming part of the BAM team. He shows tremendous improvement in his game lately, beating Olympic Champion Hoyer-Larsen in the recent Japan Open. |
Mohamed Roslin Hashim
Roslin was a player with BAM before he broke his contract and "defected" to Nusa Mahsuri. When he was banned from playing until he pay a large amount of compensation to BAM, he get a lot of donations from sponsors and managed to pay back his debt. He certainly didn't let them down. Roslin has improved his play tremensously since he trained under Misbun, managed to stun his higher rank opponents in the recent Japan Open, including Sun Jun, Fung Permandi, and Joko Suprianto. |
