Boys Under 13 (1997 - 1998 Season)

The Tampa Bay Kickers Soccer Club is a non-profit organization aimed at promoting youth soccer in a healthy and sportsmanlike environment. Emphasis is placed on team spirit, developing soccer skills, enjoying the game and playing an exciting and satisfying game that results from the use of those soccer skills.

Most of the boys on the team have been with the Kickers for the last three years under the guidance of coaches, Jeff Brattain, (FYSA coach of the year - 1995), Ted Pamplona, and Chris Crampton. Practice sessions are held at the University of Tampa playing fields. Players come from Tampa, Brandon, Valrico, Plant City, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Odessa, Bradenton and Sarasota.

Coach Jeff Brattain And His Staff Fill The Missing Year!

Up till Sunday June 7th, 1998, Coach Brattain, in his 20-plus years of coaching soccer, won the Florida State Cup in every age group except the Under-13. On that Sunday, the spot was filled.

In a splendid display of grit, determination, and indomitable spirit in 100-degree weather, his team, the Tampa Bay Kickers, played 70 minutes in the semi-final on Saturday to cast aside Brevard Blaze (3 - 1) then move to the final on Sunday and played 90 minutes to out-manoeuver the Parkland Predators (3 - 2) in an exciting overtime game with the winning goal being scored one minute before final overtime.

It was almost like a chess game as coach Brattain moved around his players to neutralize the strength of the opponents - a strategy that paid off handsomely.

Congratulations to Coach Jeff, his staff and to the team!
