Thunder Inline Hockey Club is based in Melbourne, Australia and plays in a competition organised by the Victorian Inline Hockey Association (VILHA). The Thunderbirds Inline Hockey Club was formed in the Summer season (Nov - Mar) of 1993/94, starting with an under 14 and under 16 team. Since then the club has come along way; the Summer 95/96 season saw the club's name change to Thunder coinciding with the introduction of our new uniform. The development of the sport during the last two years has seen the rapid growth of our club, so that we now enter teams in six of nine divisions - U14, U16, U20 and Senior C, B, A - catering for all ages and levels of ability.

There are two seasons per year, one from Jan-May, and one from Jun-Dec. There are five rinks around Melbourne where games are played. VILHA is now running a division called Pro League where the best players in Victoria (and Australia) are drafted to play in a high quality competition. This is the closest Australia has ever come to pro-hockey.
