Riverside Claims newman Conference Title , along with the Sandwich Sabres

The Riverside Rebels ,for the first time in their history, were victorious in capturinfg the Newman conference Championship over the Herman Gren Griffins. The game was an offensive battle, going back and forth ending with a 32-23 score. The Rebels were able to move the ball in the air, as the Green Griffins just did opposite , pounding the ball with the run. The defenses struggled throught the game as it came down to the last possesion and the Rebels prevailed

Belle River Lineman Recieves Full Ride to the Big East's University of Miami

Belle River's former star offensive lineman Brett Romberg has just accepted a full scholarship to play football at the University of Miami. The Hurricanes' offensive line coach Art Kehoe was elated to see this fierce player decide on playing football for the next four years in the Big East. Romberg was a member of the 1995 number one nationally ranked Belle River high school team. Romberg will attend the university in January of '98 and will begin playing football the fall of '98

Sandwich's Kris Peterson is New Hampshire Bound as a Three Sport Star

Another local talent has just accepted a full scholarship to an american university. Quarterback Kris Peterson of the Sandwich Sabres has decided to head out east to the University of New Hampshire. Kris was delighted to attend an institution that allowed him to remain a three star athlete. Kris not only will play football in the fall of '97, but he also will excel in both basketball and track. Kris turned down a number of other universities, including the like of Syracuse University.

Belle River's Tight End Colin Crabbe Has Become a Southern Illinois' Saluki

Belle River's Tight End Collin Crabbe signs to play football at Southern Illinois University. After making a visit to Southern Illinois, Collin recieved and accepted the scholarship from the Salukis . The Saluki's new Head Coach just happened to be the former Wake Forest offensive coordinator, who was another school interested, and was quite excited with Crabbe's acquisition. Collin will get a chance to play due to the graduation of two seniors at his position. He will also study engineering at SIU.

Former Holy Names QB, Mark Luvisotto, is Michigan Bound to Hillsdale College

Mark Luvisotto's hard work has finally paid off, as the former Holy Names Knight, recieves a partial scholarship to attned Michigan's Hillsdale College. The Chargers' coaching staff was quite impressed with Mark's tremendous athletic ability and potential for success. Mark will come in as a red shirt fresman after playing a year with the Windsor AKO Fratmen.

Windsor AKO's OL Brad Horokey is off on Schocalrship to Northwood University

Windsor AKO Fratmen's All-Conference OL Brad Horokey is also Michigan bound. Brad has recieved a partial scholarship to attend Northwood University. Brad too was a member of the '95 number one natinally ranked Belle River high school team.

W.E.C.S.S.A. League Changes to an One Division Format, 18 Teams in All

Windsor Essex County football will boast a whole new look, transforming from a once three division league to a one divison league. The 18 teams that make up the league will be seperated into a West and East division, each accomadating nine teams. The change was decided on in the winter meeting by the coaches of W.E.C.S.S.A.
