In Memory of Someone Special I found on the Internet

Officer Kevin Easter 1972-1996 (24 yrs. old)

Officer Easter was shot four times on the night (just after midnight) of 1/8/96. He was in a struggle with a fleeing felon -- a fourteen year old child. His killer, beleive it or not, was only 14 years old. Sokane Donesay was found guilty of first degree murder. Officer Kevin Easter was employed with the Sedgwick County Sheriffs Department.

This torch burns in your memory, Hero.

Officer Kevin Easter is just like the song on the memorial page says, An Angel Among Us.

A poem for you Officer:

You did the right thing, Officer.

You tried to take someone down,

not knowing it would not be him.

You did the best for your community,

giving your life in the last battle.

You tucked in your shirt,

put on that belt.

And all you were given,

Was a death sentence.

It makes me wonder,

Why anyone would want to be a cop.

But I guess what it boils down to.

Is some sort of Love.

Love of the action sort,

I guess you could call it.

Is that what it was,

My truely special fallen officer?

--I wrote this, right after I had seen this account. I've never been so touched.

After I saw the story on Officer Easter, I decided to make a special page, in memory of him. This man gave his life for us..yet what did we give him??  This is what I am going to give him.

Officer Easter may you rest peacefully. This page will be here until the day I don't have a web site anymore, for you are a truely special guy.

Kevin Here is a song by Garth Brooks dedicated to you.

The Dance

Looking back on the memory of The dance we shared beneath the stars above For a moment all the world was right How could I have known That you'd every say Goodbye And I, I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end The way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain Then I'd've had to miss The Dance Holding you I held everything For a moment wasn't I the king If I'd only known how the king would fall Then who's to say... You know I might have changed it all And I, I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end The way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But then I'd've to miss The Dance Yes my, life it's better left to chance I could have missed the pain Then I'd've had to miss The Dance
