About Us
Central Public School is located in the heart of downtown Guelph.
The school
was built in 1961. Central P. S. serves about 200 neighborhood
children who walk to school.
Our school space is shared with Continuing Education, an adult learning centre
with 80 computers. A separate entrance and temporary walls keep the two areas
distinct.
The staff and community value and support a variety of co-curricular and
extra- curricular activities, including intra-mural teams and activities,
school teams, an environment club, a pet club, choirs and a drama club. The
school usually performs an operetta in the spring.
Central P.S. enjoys a healthy partnership with the School Council, both
working hard to achieve our common goals. Parents serve on many committees
and functions, such as the Dessert Party, the PTO Barbecue, the annual Plant
Sale and Learning Foundation Fund raising, along with working in the school
garden.
Mission Statement
The Central P.S. community will provide a
secure and collaborative environment that
enables individual students to reach their
potential through creating a desire to learn,
enhancing self-esteem and responding to
individual learning styles.
