The gigantic spider-like Forest Monster from L. Frank Baum's classic, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, lost his head for a time. But once he got it back, he vowed to get revenge upon the Cowardly Lion of Oz, who was responsible for his having lost it in the first place. Finding that he can gain size and strength by draining the energy from the various animals in an Ozian forest, he becomes an even greater menace.
Elephant, who happens to be an elephant, along with a canary named Tweaty and a mouse called Nibbles, goes to the Emerald City to tell Princess Ozma, the ruler of Oz, about the problem. She is about to offer her assistance when an emissary from the Sniffer Nation arrives with news of a potential war between the Sniffers and the Stinkfoots. Thus begins a series of fantastic adventures with many fun and fascinating new characters such as the Gilligoggs, the Droffs, a tribe of carnivorous Land-Sharks and, most importantly, the Saber-Toothed Light-Bulbs. Beautifully illustrated by Doré Meers and featuring a bright, colorful cover.
