A Little While Longer
Sequel to "Growing Pains" (My first fanfiction)
"Michaela? Arey a sure you're up to this?" Sully asked while walking in circles trying to follow a frantic Michaela.

"Sully, I have to go back sometime. And now is as good of a time as ever!" Michaela answered while noisly searching through her black medical bag which was sitting on the kitchen table. "It's been six weeks, Sully. I went back after six weeks with Katie. Besides, they need me."

Sully pulled Michaela away and turned her to face him. "Michaela, Colleen and Andrew have everything under control. They are here till the end of April remember? Can't ya just wait another week. Enjoy being just a ma for a little while longer." He tried to reason with her while he never took his eyes from hers.

Michaela lowered her stare. Sully's words cut deep into her soul and made her think. She let go of the medical bag that was in her hand and she looked up at him with a wide smile. Michaela placed her hands around his broad shoulders.

"You're right, Sully. I would LOVE to be just a mother for a little while longer, not to mention a wife!" She reached onto her tiptoes and placed a soft kiss on Sully's lips.

"Mmm." Sully could only mutter. He was caught off guard, but enjoyed it nonetheless. Just as if oncue, Joseph decided it was time to make his presence known.. Sully started to walk towards the cradle in the living room but Michaela held out her hand to stop him.

"No, Sully, remember? Let me be just a ma for a little while longer?" She teased and walked off into the living room to pick up her infant son.

Sully smiled and silently laughed. He watched as Michaela carefully and slowly picked up Joe. She placed a kiss on the baby's forehead before turning around and walking back to Sully. She cradled Joe inbetween her arms and looked up.

"What are you smiling about?" She asked curiously.

Sully put his arm around Michaela and looked at Joe. " I was just thinkin about how beautiful my wife and family are, and how happy I am," he answered sincerely.

"I was thinking the exact same thing," Michaela replied softly while rocking Joseph. Sully's lips met hers and they shared a more passionate kiss. After the kiss broke off Michaela put her head against Sully's chest while Sully wrapped his arms around her securely. They stood there for a moment pondering how truly blest they were to have their family, and each other.

"Good Morning Michaela, Sully," Andrew greeted both of them as they walked into the clinic a couple hours later. "And how's Katie and Joey doing today?"

"Goo Andew!" Katie giggled as Andrew bent down to meet Katie's eyes.

Andrew smiled at Katie's calm and friendly attitude. When he married Colleen, he never expected to be so happy, let alone come into a family that was so loving and happy. He knew Sully and Michaela had something that he had never seen any other couple have; what they had was special and rare. But he never expected to have such a big and close extended family!

"Joseph is doing well," Michaela replied to Andrew's question while positioning him in her arms for Andrew to see him. Andrew held out his arms and took his brother-in-law from her. Michaela smiled as she happily handed over her son to her son-in-law. Who knew that three years ago, when Andrew came with her mother to help deliever Katie (which never happened because  she had gone into labor while rescuing Sully in the woods) that he would marry Colleen and she would have another son added to her family.

"I think he is getting bigger by the minute!" Andrew exclaimed before turning his attention back to little Joseph and making silly faces for him.

Sully pulled Michaela close to him,"Makes ya never want ta let um go and grow up," he wispered into her ear.Just then the door that led to the recovery rooms upstairs started to swing open revealing a full handed Colleen.

"Mornin' Colleen!" Sully greeted with a smile.

"Oh Mornin' everyone!" Colleen smiled and placed the dirty sheets on the examining table. "How are ya today Ma?" She added.

"I'm very well Colleen. Thank you." Michaela answered her daughter. Colleen always cared about others before herself. Michaela loved that quality in her daughter. It meant that she would be a very caring doctor some day.

"Hey Katie! What are ya doing?" Colleen knelt down to check up on her little sister who was sitting on the clinic floor playing.

"Bunny jump! Hoppy, hop hop! Cowween!" Katie smiled and showed off her bunny.

Colleen couldn't help but laugh at Katie. How she would miss seeing her little sister grow and talk more every day when she and Andrew went back to Philadelphia. What about Joe? She would miss all of his "firsts" He was already growing so fast, she couldn't believe it. She pulled herself up to stand once again and spotted Andrew rocking Joseph. He had a huge grin on his face.

"Hows Joey?" Colleen walked over to Andrew and tickled the babies smooth skin. He looked more and more like Sully every day but he had Dr. Mike's smile and at times, stubborn disposition. She was so happy for her Ma and Sully. They deserved to be happy. They made such great parents, and she had first hand expericence on that.

"Well he seems to be healthy.. and happy!" Andrew started to become a doctor once again. "He's doing very well." He added

"Thank you Andrew," Michaela spoke up.

"No problem, it's my job. I am a doctor."

"No..I mean.. yes, but I meant for looking after the clinic for me so I could spend time with my growing family," Micheal said while looking at Sully. "They grow up so fast and I don't want to miss out on any of it. I actually was planning on coming back to work today, but a wise person made me realize to enjoy being just a mother and a wife before adding being a doctor, a little while longer."

Andrew looked towards Sully and smirked. "I'd say that was very wise of them. Besides, Colleen and I enjoy helping out in any way we can."

"Yeah, you and Sully have done so much for both of us, it's the least we could do is let you enjoy having a baby around again." Colleen hugged Andrew. "That's why we have some more good news...."
