RVNP Friends...
The Tapestry & The Journey
[Poem by Mr Chua H.K., Former Teacher-Officer of RVNP]
22 individuals from different walks, congregate
One heart and mind, met at the RVNP's gate.
Began the journey with youth and thrill,
Under the sunny heat, their characters grilled.
Stitching strings of experience in days to live
A colourful tapestry began to weave.
I remember the innocence of their youth at first
Sharing joy and laughter, not thirsted
From far I saw a youthful team
Dark skies not exist,
Countenances not gleamed.
Shone with radiance and light
They worked on the tapestry with might.
I remember the best moment on the island far
A place where granites and wildlife are
Where for 3 days and 2 nights I saw
A young team filled with potential and gusto
It warmed my heart to feel and know
From these youths one day would flow
Streams of good works and like-minded individuals!
I remember the days spent on the hills and falls,
Where jokes were shared, games played by all.
Little did I know that night had creeped,
The growing ups while working on the tapestry, needles pricked.
Merry plays in my eyes were staged and performed,
I thought all's well, nothing's wrong.
It lives in my heart, the greatest regret.
The night canopy on the teens that I neglect.
I remember the greatest trials as the last phase approached
Clouds and storms of life angrily floated.
It threatened to wet and destroy
The near complete tapestry, the teens for it toiled.
Thank God, that was not to prevail
For good things came and understanding stepped on next higher gear!
Events that I thought were dread
Turned out to be the most colourful thread!
It added a magical touch to the tapestry
For days to come and fond memories!
22 warriors reached the RVNP journey's end
As they turned back, may their eyes meet
Treasures of Friendship that can't be sold,
Much more precious than silver or gold.
Farewell NP Warriors, go on ahead and earn
More enriching lessons that must be learnt.
You are special and always will be
A piece of bright and colourful RVNP's tapestry!
