PRINCIPLES OF THE RELIGION OF ISLAM

ISLAM MEANS SUBMISSION UNTO THE WILL OF ALLAH & THOSE WHO SUBMIT UNTO THE WILL OF ALLAH ARE CALLED MUSLIMS

ALLAH is an Arabic word which stands for the One and Only One GOD,who is Self Subsisting, Eternal; neither slumber nor sleep overtakes HIM; the Source of Peace and Perfection, the Guardian of Faith, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme; no vision can comprehend HIM but HE comprehends all vision; who begets not nor is HE begotten and there is nothing like unto HIM that can be imagined. Such is ALLAH our Lord and your Lord; the only One deserving of worship; worthy of all Praise.



ISLAM Enjoins FIVE TENETS On the MUSLIMS

"SHAHADAH"
[1] The CREED or Declaration of Faith which reads :



"LA ILAHA ILLALLAH MUHAMMAD-UR-RASOOLULLAH "

There is no other deity worthy of worship except ALLAH and Muhammad is the messenger of ALLAH .


The MUSLIMS also believe in :

(a) All the Prophets and Messengers of ALLAH, including ADAM, NOAH, ABRAHAM, MOSES, DAVID, JESUS (Peace and Blessings of ALLAH be upon them all) and many others.

(b) All the revealed Books of ALLAH including the four mentioned in the Qur'an i.e. TAURAT, ZABOOR, INJEEL and the FURQAN revealed to MOSES, DAVID, JESUS and MUHAMMED(Peace and Blessings of ALLAH be upon them all); of which the Holy QUR'AN is the last and final revelation and the perfect one.

(c) All the Angels who are the spiritual beings of ALLAH and who cannot go against HIS will and command.

(d) The Islamic doctrine that the power of action proceeds from ALLAH and every human being is morally responsible for his actions.

(e) The Day of Resurrection and of Judgement .

"SALAAH"
[2] Compulsory or Obligatory Prayers, Five times a day.

"SAWM"
[3] Fasting during the month of Ramzan i.e. to abstain from food, drink and sexual intercourse from dawn to sunset.

"ZAKAAH"
[4] Zakaat which is a compulsory tax of 2.5% on savings above a prescribed quantity in a lunar year.

"HAJJ"
[5] The Pilgrimage to Mecca if one has the means to perform.
