The team consists of several U.S.-based experts that direct the research of a larger group of engineers based in China. The project has become and was officially recognized as the most successful standards project within Huawei in 2006. Senior Standards Engineer (02/02 to 08/05) Represented Huawei at 3GPP SA2 standards meetings. Also attended 3GPP CN1, 3GPP CN4, 3GPP SA3, and 3GPP2 TSG-X meetings. Rapporteur for 3GPP SA2’s "End-to-End QoS Enhancements" work item. Established U.S.-based standards team to assist headquarters with its standards efforts. Developed day-to-day processes and procedures to ensure smooth interaction between local and remote standards personnel. Senior Broadband Engineer (04/01 to 12/02) Led the Broadband Networks team which formulated the company's IP product strategy, authored numerous technical reports, and gathered competitive and market intelligence. Developed ARC's overall IP connectivity strategy and created a new Internet access product that expanded ARC's target market significantly. MCI Telecommunications/Cable & Wireless, Richardson, Texas (06/92 to 02/99) Security Product Manager (01/98 to 02/99) Responsible for the introduction of MCI's network-based Managed Firewall product that allowed secure Internet access for frame relay users and provided a cost-effective way for remote users to access corporate WANs via the Internet using VPN technology. The product won "Best of Show" at the Fall 1998 NetWorld+Interop show. Intranet Applications Specialist (01/96 to 01/98) Identified, researched, and prototyped several Intranet-based Web hosting offerings. Two of the offerings became standard products. Also created one of the most popular Intranet Web sites at MCI, a Web-based version of the legacy internal job postings system. The initial site was UNIX-based, and the backup site was Windows-based. Senior Software Engineer (07/94 to 01/96) Developed multiple proof of concept IP-based multimedia applications featuring streaming video such as telemedicine, distance learning, and video on demand. Also produced the Multimedia Software Complex specification that included all of the common constructs needed by interactive multimedia applications. Client/Server Programmer (06/92 to 07/94) Provided leadership in the analysis, design, and implementation of MCI's first client/server application developed using Object Oriented tools and technology. The application provided a Windows interface to complex routing algorithms and network data. The project was so successful that it led to additional work/funding. The Kennen Group/A.T. Services included developing complex software and administering computer networks. Was the lead developer for U.S. Steel’s Master Production Scheduling system. Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan (09/86 to 06/90) UNIX Administrator System administrator for the Computer Science faculty's computing resources consisting of UNIX servers, assorted workstations, modem pools, and printers on the Internet. Responsible for configuration and ongoing management of MSU’s UNIX-based e-mail systems.
