Urajiro
is in Oriental design, natural forms are pared down to express
their
essence or spirit. "Urajiro" is a evergreen fern found in Asia,
which
has large distinctive leaves, split in two like outstretched
wings.
On the back of the "wings" are hundreds of spores which give the
plant
its name. Urajiro is considered to bring good fortune, its leaves
are
used as New Year's decorations. The Maki-e artist has suggested the
delicacy
of the fern with consumate skill, while the lacquering
technique
mirrors the ferns quality of endurance only 200 Urajiro pens
exist.
These precious limited edition pens are presented in lacquered,
ash
wood cases. Each one carries a numbered certificate of anthenticity.
In
addition, a crystal inkwell has been specially commisioned for the
collection.
