This is a picture of a ship traveling accross the staright Messina to the Port of
Messina from Porta San Giovvani Calabria. We had to take a ship from San Giovanni to go to the Island of Sicily. Our train was loaded into the hull of the ship which takes approximatly an hour. Then we were transported accross the straight which takes about 45 minutes. Of course when we arrived we were supposed to change trains to go to Palermo, but we didn't know that. I asked several people in Italian and english if we were supposed to. No one new what the heck I was saying because Sicilian is a completly different language and dialect than Italian. Fortunaly there was a lady about 70 years old who understood what I meant. She vigorusly yeld to the conducter of the other train to get us on before it departed. Kim and I hurled our luggage off (literally), then we thanked the kind old lady very much and got on the right train just in time.

This is the beutiful Gulf of Mondello just outside of Palermo. We stayed at the Hotel La Torre which had anawesome view of the coast. You could also see Monte Pelligrino right outside the window in addition to being right on the water.
