A word from Ann,

Hi all just a note to let you know that I am an avid reader, my taste in books is very eclectic. Sometimes I like to read something light, a real page turner mystery such as P.D. James and sometimes I read to maintain my skills, and sometimes I want to get into a really good classic, the classics I usually reread every so many years because they are so good. To order any of the books listed in my pick list simply click on the picture of the book. Have a good read!

Gale Force

From siroccos to Chinooks to soothing summer easterly, the wind is always with us. In Wind, naturalist Jan DeBlieu takes a look at this invisible and ubiquitous force, which has sculpted the terrain and the very shape of civilization. Her account is lyrical, precise, and when the occasion suits, attractively (and appropriately) breezy.

Insomnia

By Stephen King it's a great read of course. King keeps you in suspense and shaking in your boots for a long enough time to let you really get into the story.

The Best Book I Ever Read!

BenHur.gif (3064 bytes)

Ben Hur

Historical novel by Lewis Wallace, published in 1880 and widely translated. It depicts the oppressive Roman occupation of ancient Palestine and the origins of Christianity. The Jew Judah Ben-Hur is wrongly accused by his former friend, the Roman Messala, of attempting to kill a Roman official. He is sent to be a slave and his mother and sister are imprisoned. Years later he returns, wins a chariot race against Messala, and is reunited with his now leprous mother and sister. Mother and daughter are cured on the day of the Crucifixion, and the family is converted to Christianity. --This text refers to the paperback edition of this title.

Don't judge this book from the movie, they only took one chapter and glorified it until it was no longer recognizable.
