Hermann Freimann owned a store and workshop "Freimann Koffer und Lederwaren" , at Koenigstrasse
27, Nurenberg. He and his family also lived in the same building , above the store. In February 1937 , Hermann and Betty made a trip to Palestine , to visit their children and grandchildren, and shortly after returned to Germany. In September 1938 Hermann was forced to sign a liquidation notice of his business. On the 10th of September 1942, all remaining Jewish inhabitants of Nurenberg (everyone over 65) were deported to Theresienstadt. Among them were also Hermann and Betty Freimann. Hermann died in Teresin on April 26, 1943 . Betty was transported to Auschwitz in October 1944 and was murdered there. |
Hermann Freimann came to Nurenberg in 20.5.1897 . He married Betty Erlanger 17.7.1902 . Hermann and Betty first lived in Luitpold Strasse 14 in Nurenberg , later moved to a smaller appartment on Koenigstrasse 27 , over their shop.This was before the War. In 1941, letters from Palestine to Hermann and Betty Freimann were addressed to : Israelitisches Schwesternheim,Wielandstrasse 6,Nuernberg. This was their address still in Juli 1942. On the 10th of September 1942, all remaining Jewish inhabitants of Nurenberg (everyone over 65) were deported to Theresienstadt. Among them were also Hermann and Betty Freimann. A letter to the Freimanns dated January 1943 carries their new address: Judenrat Theresienstadt , Protektorat Bohmen-Maehren. This letter was answered in Betty's handwriting on 28.3.1943 . A letter from the Association of Jewish Refugees in Great Britain, dated 23.10.1944, reads:"your parents have been receiving parcels...they were even able to confirm one such parcel on the 14th May 1944. The present address of your parents at Theresienstadt is Kurze Gasse 7..." Hermann died 26.4.1943. |

year 1897 (C 22/II Nr. 30, entry 1072) when the tradefirm owned by Hermann Freimann, then living
in Fuerth, Mohrenstrasse 15, was moved from Breite Gasse 73 to Innere Laufer Gasse 1. The date of the entry is May 13, 1897. |
Hermann and Betty were deported to Theresienstadt ( Terezin, in Czechoslovakia) on September
10, 1942 (transport no.II/25 97 from Munich). Hermann died there on April 26, 1943 (coffin no.16013). Betty was transported to Auschwitz in October 1944 and was murdered there. |
