The final extermination of the Ghetto took place on the 12th of July 1944.On that day, all
remaining Jewish men and women were sent in cattle wagons to death camps (the women to Schtutthof
and the men to Dachau). The women arrived at Schtutthof on 14.7.1944 . Among them was Menucha, Hanna's mother. She did not survive the camp. In the beginning of 1945, the Germans organized groups of the surviving prisoners for a long march into Germany. This march lasted for two and a half months, and ended on the 10th of March 1945. 3,000 women had left Schtutthof, and only about 300 survived the journey, when they met the Russian army. |
