Thomas Tootell - was the first letter carrier in Retford and surrounding area (Ordsall - mentioned in photograph is really part of Retford now) He received a salutation from Queen Victoria for 40 years service. The plaque and medal are still in the family today.

Thomas was born in 1845 and died 17 April 1913.

Eliza died 7 July 1917 aged 65.

One of the men in this photograph is my Great Grandfather Ernest Tootell with his wife Lillian. Windel was her Maiden Name.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

George Tootell -

We know he was a Signalman who moved to Evasham (my father thinks he had his own business there. It was possibly a Butcher's shop) and had three children, one of which was called Peter who emigrated to Australia.
