GREAT LAKES BURN CAMP Location: Held at Pretty Lake Vacation Camp near Kalamzoo, Michigan. Great Lakes Burn Camp was founded in 1994, by Chris Klavan, a burn survivor. The first camp was held in 1995 and hosted 45 kids, with last year being up to 73. The first Annual Winter Burn Camp was held in February 1998. Facility: The campground boasts 213 acres on a private lake, providing miles of hiking trails and two beach swimming areas. campers reside in winterized cabin and retreat facilities, with a common dining hall. Activities: The Camp challenges children to be the best that they can be, to expand their strengths and skills to the fullest. With a skilled camp staff and specialize support staff, the Camp offers hiking, fishing, boating, waterskiiing, ropes courses, swimming, archery and games, sports, arts and crafts, campfires and singing. Sponsorship: the cost of a week at camp is $450 per child. Any donation amounts are apprciated to help children in need. Donations can be sent to your local hospital burn center. Please call the hospital's contact person for more information. all donations are taax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. In addition: there are many ways to sponsor a camp; 1) financial donations allow the camp to purchase specialized equipment needed for the cmapers, plan programs, transport children and provide quality food and lodging. Items can also be donated such as arts and crafts, supplies, or sporting equipment.
ALMA MASONIC HOME Annually a fair is held at the Masonic Home located in Alma, Michigan to raise funds to support the Home made available to men and women who are members of the Order of Eastern Star.
