I think this family was in DeSoto County MS for the 1840 Census
Benjamin Witt and Samuel Sylvester Ferguson, joined the Union Army in 1862, served with Co's E and I of the 10th Tennessee Infantry, along with John Pryor. They mustered out in 1865.
