Management of my stud

There is no difference between management for a Recessive pied stud than for a normal stud. My day to day management is not that complicated. I take a quick look at the birds in the morning before going to work, just to see that everything is alright. I also give the breeding pairs more eggfood in the morning. Around 6 pm I do all the actually work in the birdhouse, like giving seed, water, softfood and cleaning. I use Versele Laga seed from Belgium, a very good seed to use. I use a parakit mix that I blend with 50% pure canary seed.
In this way I can offer my birds more kinds of seed instead of the normal budgie mixes that offently just have canary seed and a couple of millet sorts in them. There is nine different kinds of seed in my mix, including three kinds of millet (red, white and yellow), canary seed, safflower, niger seed, peeled oats, linseed and rapeseed. You can almost call it a tonic seed. My birds always have grit and sand.
I use a vitamin solution from Versele Laga and also a mineral powder called Fortalyt. This mineral powder is mixed with the softfood for both the breeding pairs and the rest of the stud. The softfood, either Ce-De or Orlux, is mixed with hard boiled egg and Fortalyt. This I give to the breeding pairs daily and to the rest of the birds twice a week. When the youngsters have been moved from the parents I also give them a soaked pigeon mix every day plus the softfood.
